The National Fellowship for Preservice Teachers is sponsored by the National Network of State Teachers of the Year. It was created as a way to recognize some of the top preservice teachers in the United States and provide them with the requisite skills they need to advocate for students and the profession.

Criteria to earn this badge

National Network of State Teacher of the Year Teacher Candidate Fellows engaged weekly with other teacher candidates and educators by posting interesting education finds, thoughtful questions, and/or feedback to questions posed
National Network of State Teacher of the Year Teacher Candidate Fellows led an ongoing discussion once per month about an education topic of their choice. This included posting an article, resource, question, video, or image, and generating and furthering the conversation around the topic by responding to questions, probing, and otherwise engaging other fellows.
National Network of State Teacher of the Year Teacher Candidate Fellows participated in a monthly webinar or Twitter chat to discuss a range of hot topics in education.
National Network of State Teacher of the Year Teacher Candidate Fellows worked with a teacher of the year mentor throughout the fellowship.
National Network of State Teacher of the Year Teacher Candidate Fellows developed a professional growth plan.
